Small Wall
June 27, 2008
I’ve found that the smaller something is, the more difficult it is to design.

Stolen Art
June 27, 2008
You know when people take really lame pictures and mount them on cheap particle board? Like the pictures from inspirational calendars or Anne Geddes?
There a few like this around the office, except it’s the Lord’s prayer. Recently I took one (from the lunch room) and brought it home. Last night, in the twenty minutes before bed. I painted it. It’s beautiful.

After:

(all images approximate, and ripped off from AllPosters.com, because I don’t have actually pictures).
And this morning I put it back up where it had been before, except now, instead of looking like cheap art from you Family Bookstore, it looks like cheap art from Linens & Things.
NSF

There’s nothing like having $35 taken from you, due to unforeseen circumstances, that can make you self-aware of how much you’re attached to your money.
The first thought through my head is, “what could I have bought with that $35…that I can no longer have…” and I just get roiling mad!
You’d think it was a pound of flesh or something.
Inspiration Board
June 24, 2008
One of the good things about not having a date for a while after you’ve gotten engaged is that you have lots of time to think about your wedding, without the pressure to plan.
I have made an “inspiration board.” Hopefully some of these things will come to fruition.

The kids these days…

Sushi

Because doctored photos are funny.

I recently discovered “Pages” on Facebook. There is a Sushi page. I have thus “become a fan.” This picture is taken from that page.
December Wedding

So I’ve heard from a few people not to get married in December. I don’t know why.
Why?
Anyone know?
Shack!

This little beauty arrived in my inbox this morning via the Design*Sponge “FeedBlitz”of articles I get every day or so.

(from the original post) Architect Jeffery S. Broadhurst designed and built this 140sf retreat for his family on a very remote 27-acre mountaintop property in West Virginia, accessible only by off-road vehicle. A ladder unhitches and swings down, providing access to the entry door. Oil lamps provide light and a woodstove heats the space. Hand-powered, gravity-fed plumbing system, and water is heated using the woodstove. Rainwater from the roof supplies the outdoor shower.
So basically, can I has it?
I notice that you can see light through the walls in that second-last picture, so this isn’t exactly a contraption suited to Canada… and I bet the bugs would be bad if you ever left food out… and it’s a far cry from a cottage, or a hospital, from what it seems, BUT… this is quite the shack. I’d go there for a retreat.

A Day Too Late

This would be the perfect gift for my dad for Father’s Day. He buys giant Rubbermaid containers just to put his pennies in, and then takes great joy in bringing them to those coin-sorting machines at the grocery store to trade in for store credit (usually worth about $10).
Oh well, Dad will have to be satisfied with Black Hawk Down and Casino Royale DVDs.
